There are many things which get on my nerves, such as selfishness, people who eat too loudly, drivers who don't indicate until the last second before they turn!! But one of my major irritations at this present moment is related to Instagram.
Don't get me wrong I am an Insta addict. I will take pictures of anything and everything. Food, the road, a cat, a piece of chewing stuck on my shoe (Ok I haven't done that yet, but no doubt I will eventually). You name it, I will take a picture of it. So you're probably thinking if I love it so much how can it bother me this bad!? Well it's not so much the actual app but more the people I follow.
This morning I do my usual early morning routine...wake up, check Twitter, check Facebook, check Instagram....you know the important things to do when you literally just open your eyes. Anyway I'm browsing through pictures of random people, as you do, and I come across two people who have posted "just woken up selfies". Pretty self explanatory, but these are pictures of people, supposedly, taken just after they have woken up. They do not look like they have just dragged themselves out of bed. The majority have blatantly just lathered their face in either a tinted moisturiser or foundation. They have most definitely brushed their hair, added a bit of mascara and some lip balm. Who actually looks that amazing after awaking from nod land!? We're not stupid, either they've done as I've just stated above or they sleep sitting up with a full face of slap on.
If I posted a picture of me as soon as I woke up you would witness the following:
*Hair - Dragged through a hedge backwards doesn't even come close, more like, birds nest for the entire pigeon population of London.
*Face - Deathly white. Crease marks from my pillow imprinted on my cheeks. Despite removing all my mascara before bed I still end up with black all around my eyes (How!?!).
So to summarise my selfie would look like a police mug shot for a crack addict. Beautiful.
The funny thing is the people who post morning selfies will deny until they are blue in the face that they have any make up on. Ok so even if they don't then they have either photoshopped their image, added a filter and blurred parts out, or, their make up is tattooed on & they have eyelash extensions/tinted lashes. I can guarantee, without all these things, there wouldn't be any morning selfies otherwise.
